WHERE WE ARE
We are at a height of 950 metres
a.s.l. above the village “Gualdo”,
part of the Pratovecchio municipality, near Consuma.
The Consuma village is only 4 km away (2 km by horse) and Florence is
about 30 km away, within easy reach with the bus service.
We are on the border of the National Park of the Casentine forests and
the CAI crest path (00) runs past approximately 50 metres from our
home (CAI= Club Alpino Italiano = Italian Alpine club. It marks paths
in the mountains and through wilderness). We are lucky to be in a
strategic position from where by horse we can easily reach many
destinations like Mugello, Val di Sieve, Vallombrosa, the Falterona,
the Pratomagno, the Chianti and obviously all the Casentine area to
end up in Emilia Romagna and beyond!
HOW TO GET HERE

From the A1 Autostrada take the
Firenze exit and follow the signs for
Pontassieve. On the road that bypasses Pontassieve take the
“Pontassieve est” exit, turn right and the next one left (SS70),
follow the signs for Consuma, Stia, Bibbiena etc. Carry on for about
14 km. 2 km after the Consuma pass take a left at the sign for Gualdo
. After 1 km turn left again for the “Londa-Vierle” and continue for
roughly 800 metres, on the right go down the unsealed road and you are
